Leonor Mendoza has been commissioned by private collectors and businesses to create original works of art.  She has designed and built architectural pieces such as doors, handrails, windows, screens and room dividers, as well as functional chairs, lamps, coffee and dining tables.  Ms. Mendoza works carefully to create the perfect piece for the space which it will embellish.  Her work has been internationally recognized for its unique use of organically inspired materials, its minimalist flare and its dynamic use of space.

Leonor Mendoza

Leonor Mendoza was born in Caracas, Venezuela and lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She received her BFA from the Federico Brant Art Institute in Caracas and won an award of a Residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Mendoza has been represented at numerous exhibitions in both Venezuela and abroad including El Museo del Barrio’s 6th Biennial, NY, Bellwether 2010, WA, Lehman College, NY, Contemporary Art Museum Sofía Imber, Venezuela, The Art Museum of the Americas in Washington DC, Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach (MoLLA), Contemporary Art Fair in New York, L’International Sculpture Sur Niege in Quebec, Hickory Museum in North Carolina and Latin American Art Fair (FIA) in Venezuela where she received an award at the Youth Artist Show. Among her collectors is Jacobo Borges Museum in Caracas, Art Museum of the Americas, Washington DC, Venezuelan Industrial Bank, Sidetur of Venezuela and MoLLA. Mendoza’s work has been featured in various publications including the New York Times, Architectural Records Magazine, NY Arts Magazine and Art Nexus.

Leonor Mendoza is an observer of our time. In turn, her work reflects a reality that is constantly moving and changing addressing concerns about our environment through her sculptures.
